Freaky Friday!

I did have a rather long previous post mostly about how tiring it was being busy. This one is about how FUN it is being busy! :D

All CCA activities for us JC1s have been stopped in preparation for the promotional exam, meaning there was no choir practice last Friday. Thanks to this, I got to pay full attention to our Art booth for Humanities Week :) though I would still have to leave school earlier for the breaking of fast event going on at Tampines East CC.

The setting up process for our Art stations started at 12 noon. Oh yes, I skipped the last half hour of my Physics lesson, and I feel good about it! :P Before the secondary school kids arrived at around 3pm, we had a whole lot of fun painting our own faces and talking nonsense :D Xiao Li had his entire left arm painted with his own tribal designs, Azri grew a beard and an eye on his left hand, Charissa turned Hitler, Trivia and Joy had cat faces, and I got myself a gothic pair of lips and white fangs :P

The first batch of kids that I took was girls, I forgot which school they were from, and they froze the moment they were assigned to my station, because of my huge pair of eyes and the scary makeup. Dude, they stopped a few meters away from me and gave me this 'The freak is gonna eat us alive' look xD

Well at least I was still able to deliver the content of my presentation on Art and identities, and explain to the girls how our Photoshop-edited pictures and paintings portray different identities. I don't care if I looked like a serial killer. >:) Haha

Azri manned his own station, too. An identical one to mine.

The face painting station Trivia was in charge was the main source of fun for the kids, where they get to sabotage their friends and scar their faces! no, not for life, only for the hour :P Though some were more reserved than others, kids from every school that came enjoyed the activity.

I was supposed to be in this final group shot, but unfortunately I'd already left for the IFTAR event at Tampines East CC by then :(

Yeah, so I had to rush down to Tampines East CC at around 5pm, together with Leo and Nam, two teachers, and 4 other civics councilors to witness the breaking of fast of the Muslims. The teachers had a really swell method of socializing :o 'Now that you have some time before the guest of honor's arrival, take out your tutorials and finish them!', 'Who's your teacher for ___ subject?', 'What did you all get for your SAs?'. haha :P

Mister guest of honor gave his speech, and the one after him explained the meaning behind fasting, as well as the importance of staying in good shape by fasting. While waiting for the speeches to END, we sat in silence looking at each other! :P haha.

At 712pm, we were allowed to break our fast! Man I was waiting for this since I was starved and thirsty for the whole day, especially after my Humanities Week presentations :P Would you look at THAT! :D

And here's a group photo, as an evidence to our dearest Ms Choo the principal that nobody ran away from their duty :P wait, no, Nam did :|

And my activity-packed day ended with the hostel anniversary dinner :) I was able to return in time for the last hour of the event, watch some magic tricks and dance crazily to the music with my friends at the end of it :P

Next Monday is Teachers' Day. We boys are ready for the performance that we've practiced hard for :D and I am ready for the holiday on Tuesday! I'm gonna be revising my subjects on that day! Get the wheels rolling :D and go out for dinner with Linh's friends :)

Still addicted to Dream Theater's music. Listening to the melodies alone makes you feel, a thousand and one different feelings. Listening to the lyrics makes you think of the world and things that are happening around you, to you.

I was talking to my friend yesterday, about poverty alleviation and how we could contribute.

She was driven and ambitious, she wanted to be known and respected for what she did best, so her voice and power would be recognized by everyone. So her hands could reach places she would never have been able to as an ordinary individual. So she could accomplish things selfish authorities have failed to do. So the help she could provide would make a real change.

My take was different. I would rather be an insignificant one among a thousand others working towards that common goal. As an ordinary individual, the hundreds of achievements I may be able to obtain might not even be of so much help as one single thing a powerful individual could do. But I would actually get stuff done on my own. I would see change with my own eyes, by my own hands. You want something, you go and get it by yourself. That's what I think.

But. In my opinion, when it comes to solving global issues, the world needs all the help it can get. Regardless of how you are willing to contribute, we are all working in an organization of global scale. If you're the boss of the organization, you need men to carry out your plans. If you're among the men, you've got to work hard with the others in order to realize your boss's plans. If you're your own boss, you're your own men as well, and you've got to work hard with yourself to get your own plans done. That's the way I see it.

The world spins at a constant speed, but if we stop spinning together with it, we're left behind. Tiring as it sounds, we need to be working constantly. At least, we humans have the advantage of existing in a great quantity. We've got one another to hang on to.

It's great to do things when you're in good mood :)

Buying memory is such a time consuming process... You have to Google prices, sort through which ones are legit, around a bunch of shops, compare prices, finally buy your memory, and then hope that the price doesn't drop in the next 2 weeks or so.

I've been done in by some ridiculous price drops in the past... especially this one time when I bought a Micro SD for my DS flashcard at what I thought was a steal, only to later see that it fell five bucks in a week.
